As foreign national, you may apply to come as an international student, extend your study permit and work while you study and after graduation. Benefits to obtaining a study permit when not required The benefits to having a study permit can be: • Work while studying. • Apply to renew study permit from within Canada. • Spouse and dependents can join you in Canada. • After completing your program, apply for a post graduate work permit. As a graduate from a designated learning institution in Canada, you will have the opportunity to apply for a post graduate work permit (PGWP). After graduation, you have up to 180 days to apply for the PGWP which is will be valid up to a maximum of three years.
